Asian American Orchestra Quartet at NLF's Sushi Social

Every year, the Asian American Orchestra supports Japantown’s childcare center, Nihonmachi Little Friends’ (NLF) “Sushi Social” annual fundraiser. The night always begins with an incomparable feast of sushi made fresh at NLF, in addition to an extensive selection of hot entrees and several tables of desserts to choose from. This year, Shoko Hikage (Koto), Mark Izu (Bass), Masaru Koga (Sax/Shakuhachi), and Anthony Brown (Drums) delighted the packed house of NLF supporters with a concert featuring the international hit, “Sukiyaki,” Brown’s “Rhymes (For Children)” which served as the theme music for KQED-FM’s “Pacific Time” weekly newsmagazine, and the classic “Sakura Sakura” performed by Shoko Hikage.
